As of today, Crucible is in closed beta. If you want to catch up on that news, please check out our blog post from yesterday. Now that it’s official, let’s talk about how you can participate:
We’ll be hosting weekly playtest throughout closed beta. Our first one will be this Thursday, July 2. The playtest will actually be split into two sessions, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. PT and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. PT. During both of those times, you’ll find us and your fellow beta participants in-game and in Discord. We’ll be playing matches, talking about recent changes, and looking for feedback.
After each playtest, we’ll have a survey available to make sure we’re capturing your thoughts and feedback. We’ll also be setting up places for post-playtest discussion on Reddit and Discord.
We’re kicking off tomorrow’s playtest with a developer livestream—join us on our Twitch channel at 10:00 a.m. PT to talk with one of our designers about closed beta, our development roadmap, and some of the changes we’re considering making for Heart of the Hives.
For the past couple of weeks, our friends over at Rival Esports have been running Crucible tournaments on Sundays. We’ll keep running tournaments like those in beta—in fact, starting next week, we’ll even be increasing our support for them.
With 15 or fewer teams participating, there will be a weekly prize pool of $1,000 USD, with the top 4 placements paid.
With 16-31 teams participating, there will be a weekly prize pool of $2,500 USD, with the top 8 placements paid.
With more than 32 teams participating, there will be a weekly prize pool of $5,000 USD, with the top 16 placements paid.
Note: there will not be any tournaments this weekend due to the holiday in the US.
You can find information on signing up from Rival Esports.
That’s it for now! We’ll see you in-game.
