Crucible is a free-to-play team-based action shooter driven by the choices you make. You start by choosing a hunter from a diverse roster of aliens and humans with unique weapons and abilities, and then work with teammates to hunt opponents, take down hostile creatures, and harvest Essence. Hunters use harvested Essence to level up within each match to increase power and enhance their abilities.
In order to play Crucible, you'll need a Steam account, an internet connection, and a PC—you can visit our system requirements page for full details on PC specifications.
Crucible is free-to-play and can be downloaded from Steam with no purchase necessary. You can buy a battle pass each season, and the in-game store also has cosmetic items available for purchase. Crucible does not sell items that allow players to pay to win.
Nope! Crucible is free-to-play—there's no box price and no subscription.
Yes, Crucible has an in-game store. You can buy a battle pass each season, and we’ll also have in-game cosmetic items available for purchase. Crucible does not sell items that allow players to pay to win.
Yes. There will be a battle pass available for purchase for each season; that battle pass will include rewards that can be earned by completing challenges while the season is running. Additionally, each season will have a season reward track which rewards players with in-game items as they play throughout the season. Progress made on the season reward track will also apply to the battle pass (and vice versa).
Our Founder's Packs are a set of three bundles available to celebrate the launch of Crucible. These packs can be purchased directly via Steam or as codes via Amazon.com to be redeemed on Steam. They contain exclusive skins, customization items like drop pod decals, and in-game currency, as well as the Pre-Season Battle Pass and a number of battle stars, which unlock rewards in the battle pass.
The Founder’s Packs are available now through the end of the Pre-Season on July 13. Multiples of the same Founder’s Pack cannot be applied to a single account (e.g., only one Predator Founder’s Pack may be applied to a single account). If different tiers of the Founder's Pack are applied to the same account, the in-game Credits and other unique or stacking rewards from each Founder's Pack will be granted, but other non-stacking items like skins will not be duplicated. Founder’s Packs are non-refundable.
As a limited-time thank-you to players who are joining us in Crucible, if you download the game and log in by June 2, you’ll receive 1,000 Credits for use in the in-game store! You can learn more here.

However, if you wish to, you can use your Amazon gift card to purchase one of our Founder's Packs, each of which includes in-game Credits that can be used to purchase items from the in-game store.
Yes. Money from your Steam Wallet can be used to purchase Crucible’s in-game currency, Credits, which enable you to unlock items from the in-game store.
Yes! You’ll need to be friends on Steam. Once you’re both logged into Crucible, open the Steam social tab, right-click on your friend’s name, and select “Invite to Lobby.”
Crucible hunters are not limited to specific classes or even roles. Crucible brings character types from various genres into one battlefield, emphasizing unique designs that enable varied playstyles. Each hunter in Crucible can be applied in a variety of ways, so don't get too hung up on looking for the perfect "tank" or "healer" character. Instead, find someone who fits your playstyle, then figure out how you want to use them.
You can visit our hunters page to learn more about what each one brings to the fight.
Crucible is developed by Relentless Studios, an Amazon Games development studio based in Seattle. The studio is comprised of industry veterans from ArenaNet, Electronic Arts, Westwood Studios, Xbox, and more.
